Self-Guided tours offer travelers the freedom and flexibility to explore off-the-beaten-path destinations at their perfect pace, in ways that can only be reached by bicycle.

WILLISTON, VT – VBT Bicycling Vacations, the leader in active vacations since 1971, announced the addition of a new travel option: Self-Guided Bicycling Vacations. This new travel style offers the most flexibility of any VBT Bicycling Vacation, allowing travelers to experience a destination on their own timetable without a guide, with expertly planned itineraries and support from behind the scenes.

With a VBT Self-Guided Bicycling Vacation, travelers can choose the perfect activity level to suit their needs, interests and biking style based on how much or how little they wish to ride, whether they are a recreational cyclist, a first-time VBT guest, or a more experienced rider,” said Timo Shaw, President of VBT Bicycling Vacations. “We are confident our guests will enjoy this new travel style, allowing them to follow their own schedule and start and stop whenever they want to dine, rest or explore, with the peace of mind knowing the entire trip, from hotels to bike routes, has been planned and organized for them.

Self-Guided Bicycling Vacations are available on select itineraries in 2020, including British Columbia: Vancouver Island, Victoria & the Saanich Peninsula; Italy: Puglia, Alberobello & Lecce; Portugal: Porto, the Silver Coast & Lisbon; England: Oxford & the Cotswolds; and Spain: Barcelona & Costa Brava. All tours include a welcome orientation meeting and bike fitting; a custom VBT bike (road bike, hybrid bike or E-bike), helmet and bike bag; 24/7 support system including a local host and travel assistance hotline; a VBT Road Book with insider destination information such as restaurant recommendations and points of interest ranging from off-the-beaten-path attractions to secret beaches and spots with the best views; boutique accommodations in town centers for easy exploring and resupplying; daily breakfast; luggage transfers between hotels; GPS voice navigation and printed daily route notes; flat kit and multi-tool; and round-trip international air, if desired.

The new Self-Guided Bicycling Vacations complement VBT’s other two travel styles, Guided Biking and Guided Bike & Boat. The company also recently introduced new tours for 2020, from bucket-list destinations to the world’s hidden gems.
