Adventure travel specialist, Explore, has just launched the latest collection for its newest brand, edge. Designed especially for young professionals looking for adventure travel experiences, edge’s small-group itineraries allow customers to get off the beaten track and immerse themselves in local culture, without having to put in months of planning ahead of their trip. As with Explore tours, edge trips are run by a group leader, but there is also plenty of free time built in for independent exploration and optional activities. With 151 great-value itineraries now on offer in 55 different countries, edge offers a social and stress-free way to explore the world.

New to edge’s collection for 2013/14 is Africa. With 22 new overland itineraries on offer, in countries including Botswana, Namibia and Uganda, edge’s small group ethos ensures that customers will not only travel in comfort, but can also maximise game viewing opportunities. edge’s new 14 day Cape and Dunes Overland trip journeys from Cape Town to Namibia while showcasing the diversity of the region. The trip visits Etosha National Park and Cape Town, climbs the world’s highest sand dunes, explores historical towns and admires the sun set over the Fish River Canyon.

For those with more time available, edge’s new 28 day Cape Town to Joburg Adventure combines Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Bringing together adventure and wildlife, the trip admires Victoria Falls, cruises along the Okavango Delta, explores sand dunes and canyons, searches for wildlife, learns survival skills in the desert and visits a local community school project in Johannesburg. Departing monthly, the trip includes accommodation (mostly camping), transport and the services of a group leader, driver, cook and local guides.

Another new continent for 2013/14 is North America. With 28 new itineraries of varying durations on offer, there is something for all budgets. Those looking for an epic adventure can travel on edge’s new 44 day Best of the USA trip which journeys from the west to east coast, and back again. The trip travels by maxi-van to the major cities including San Francisco, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Washington DC and New York, while taking in the iconic monuments and national parks along the way. Departing between April and August 2013, the trip includes accommodation (mostly camping), transport and the services of a group leader.

The final addition to edge’s 2013/14 collection is Australasia, with 23 new itineraries on offer. Edge’s seven day Best of the North Island trip in New Zealand conquers the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, kayaks to remote coves and hidden beaches, learns about Maori culture in a village homestay and explores the delights of Wellington. With monthly departures, the trip includes accommodation, transport and the services of a group leader and some local guides. Those looking for a longer Australasian adventure can travel to Australian for wine tasting, surf lessons and island hoping on edge’s 15 day Most of the Coast trip.

Karl Bolton, Programme Manager for edge commented “After a successful first year, we are excited to expand the edge offering so that customers now have a greater range of destinations and trip durations to choose from. For people in their 20’s and 30’s, edge is the ideal offering: customers can have the back-packing type experiences they long for, without the worry and hassle that goes with them. Our small groups can travel safe in the knowledge that the group leader is dealing with the finer details, they just need to turn up, have fun and get exploring”.
