ACC Liverpool’s London Showcase hailed a success

Event organisers in the association, corporate and exhibition markets gathered for ACC Liverpool’s annual London Showcase.

Around 100 existing and potential clients heard updates from the venue, including its new multi-million pound catering deal with Centerplate which was revealed on the night, and plans for its latest addition, Exhibition Centre Liverpool, opening in 2015.

ACC Liverpool was joined at Two Temple Place by city partners including Marketing Liverpool whose director Chris Brown gave a presentation.

He said: “ACC Liverpool’s annual London Showcase provides a unique opportunity for the venue and the destination, also known as Team Liverpool, to update contacts, many of whom may be based in London, on the latest exciting news from the city.

“We were able to inform guests about new hotel openings, the Delegate Welcome and support we offer and next year’s International Festival for Business which will showcase Liverpool to a worldwide audience as a great place to do business.”

The theme for the evening was a voyage of discovery, inspired by a weather vane on top of Two Temple Place, representing the caravel Santa Maria in which Christopher Columbus discovered America. Guests joined ACC Liverpool to hear details of its own journey.

Attendees were invited on a culinary exploration with dishes provided by Centerplate which were tailored to reflect Christopher Columbus’s travels – from an Italian Halibut creation to Spanish squid and chorizo to South American-inspired banana peanut cheesecake.

Hazel Choules, of the British Orthopaedic Association, said: “The Showcase is an enjoyable way to hear the latest updates as the city continues to undergo some impressive developments.  Team Liverpool works hard to ensure its event is also a fun and interesting evening of networking with industry colleagues.”

Staff from ACC Liverpool, home to BT Convention Centre and Echo Arena, were joined by 17 city partners including Virgin Trains, Hilton Liverpool and PJ Chauffeurs.

Clients included NHS Confederation, the Royal College of Nursing and the Association of Teachers and Lecturers.
