Air traffic growth continues in the Berlin and Brandenburg region

From January to August, there were 12,862,871 passengers at Tegel, which is an increase of 8.6 per cent over the same period of the previous year.

Growth in air traffic in the Berlin and Brandenburg region continued in August. In the first eight months of the year a total of 17,280,729 passengers used the airports in Schonefeld and Tegel, a year-on-year increase of 4.1 per cent.

From January to August, there were 12,862,871 passengers at Tegel, which is an increase of 8.6 per cent over the same period of the previous year. In the same period, 4,417,858 passengers used Schonefeld Airport, a drop of 7.1 per cent compared with the same period in 2012.

The number of flight movements decreased between January and August to a total of 158,114 take-offs and landings, which is a year-on-year decrease of 1.7 per cent. In Schonefeld the number of flight movements decreased by 10.7 per cent compared with the previous year, to 42,919. In Tegel there was a slight year-on-year increase of 2.2 per cent with 115,195 flight movements in the first eight months of the year

Between January and August 2013, 21,784 tons of air freight were registered at the airports in Schonefeld and Tegel, which is a year-on-year increase of 2.4 per cent.

In August 2013, a total of 2,380,787 passengers used the airports Schonefeld and Tegel, a year-on-year increase of 2.3 per cent. In Tegel, 1,772,657 passengers were counted in August 2013, which is an increase of 5.9 per cent over August 2012. At Schonefeld Airport 608,127 passengers used the airport in the past month, a decrease of 6.7 per cent over the same period of last year.

The total number of flight movements in August was 20,592 take-offs and landings, a drop of 4.1 per cent compared with the previous year. Air freight in August dropped to 2,806 tons, a decrease of 9.8 per cent.
