American Airlines increases London Heathrow to Los Angeles

The premier Los Angeles airline adds more service between London and LA.

Customers of American Airlines can look forward to increased daily, direct services between London Heathrow Airport (LHR) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) when the world’s largest airline adds a new flight between the two cities beginning in March 2015. The new flight will be operated with the latest addition to American’s international fleet, the state-of-the-art, three-class Boeing 777-300ER.

“As the premier airline in Los Angeles, this additional frequency from London caters to our high-end customers in both cities. These customers demand a world-class travel experience including true First and Business Class cabins on modern aircraft serving the best network at LAX,” said Andrew Nocella, American’s senior vice president and chief marketing officer.

With four daily direct flights from London Heathrow – two operated by American with its flagship 777-300ER and two by American’s Atlantic joint business partner British Airways with its luxurious Airbus A380 – American’s customers will have the most travel options to Los Angeles from London throughout the year.

The new LHR to LAX nonstop begins on 29 March 2015, and customers may begin booking travel for on this flight on Sunday, 2 November, 2014. All four flights feature a three-class configuration, with more than 60 fully lie-flat First and Business Class seats and products aimed to elevate the customer experience in every cabin. The 777-300ER features all-aisle access and a walk-up bar in the premium cabin, Main Cabin Extra seating provides more legroom and all seats feature personal, in-seat entertainment screens with up to 250 movies, over 180 TV programs and more than 350 audio selections, international Wi-Fi capability and universal AC power outlets and USB ports.

American Airlines Adds Birmingham, England To Its Growing Network
Also, American Airlines customers will soon have access to a new destination when Birmingham, England (BHX) joins the network of the world’s largest airline. New daily service from New York’s John F. Kennedy International (JFK) is scheduled to begin May 7 with a Boeing 757. Customers may begin booking travel on these flights now. Birmingham will be American’s fifth destination in the United Kingdom.

“We are very excited to add Birmingham, England to American’s growing global network,” said Chuck Schubert, American’s vice president – Network and Schedule Planning. “This flight gives our customers on both sides of the Atlantic a new option for travel between the United States and England. Our extensive network beyond New York City will provide tremendous access between key business and leisure markets and Birmingham.”

Flights leave JFK at 7 p.m. daily, arriving in Birmingham at 7:10 a.m. Flights from Birmingham will depart at 10 a.m., arriving at JFK at 12:55 p.m.

The airline offers expanded service for customers through its Atlantic joint business with British Airways, Iberia and Finnair and its oneworld alliance partners. The joint business has more lie-flat seats on routes between JFK and London Heathrow (LHR) than any other alliance.
