Baltia Air Lines announces management and board changes

Mr. Thal succeeds Baltia's Founder, President and CEO, Mr. Igor Dmitrowsky who recently passed away.

JAMAICA, N.Y. – Baltia Air Lines, Inc. (BLTA) announced that Mr. Russel K. Thal has been named President and Chairman of the Board. In addition to Mr. Thal’s appointment, Mr. Barry Clare and Mr. Frank Acquavella have been appointed to the Board of Directors. Mr. Thal succeeds Baltia’s Founder, President and CEO, Mr. Igor Dmitrowsky who recently passed away. These appointments were made and ratified by Baltia’s existing Board of Directors earlier today and are effective immediately.

Mr. Thal has served as Baltia’s Executive Vice President since 2004. He has over 50 years of experience in business management and aviation technology. He also served in the US Army.  Mr. Thal was Director of Operations, and Liaison for Military Airlift Command for Seaboard World Airlines, and Director of Stations for New York Air. He also founded Compuflight (acquired by Navtech) and served as Chairman of Navtech from 1997 to 2001.

In a statement to the Board of Directors and Baltia’s Management team, Mr. Thal said, “Igor was an outstanding and competent leader who will be missed by all those who knew him and had the privilege of working with him.” Mr. Thal also stated, “His vision and energy were the inspiration that drove us to this point. We will continue his legacy and finish what he started.”

Baltia’s existing management team remains in place and will ensure that the company prospers and will uphold its obligations to all of its shareholders. The company continues to operate normally towards air carrier certification.
