Budapest Airport welcomes the inaugural flight of Ryanair’s new twice-weekly link to Israel

With the ultra-low cost carrier’s noteworthy addition of the Eilat Ovda link to existing Tel Aviv services, the Central European airport will now offer 16 weekly flights to the two Israeli airports.

Budapest Airport, one of Europe’s fastest growing airports, welcomes Ryanair’s link to Israel Recording its 11th consecutive double-digit month of passenger traffic growth, Budapest Airport has been named as one of Europe’s fastest growing airports during Q3 2015 by ACI Europe.

Reinforcing the growing popularity of Budapest, this week saw the Hungarian gateway welcome the inaugural flight of Ryanair’s new twice-weekly link to Israel. Hungary’s capital city airport recorded a significant 20% jump in Israeli visitors in 2014. With the ultra-low cost carrier’s noteworthy addition of the Eilat Ovda link to existing Tel Aviv services, the Central European airport will now offer 16 weekly flights to the two Israeli airports. While facing no direct competition on the airport pair, Ryanair’s arrival to the Israeli market at Budapest gives the carrier an immediate 13% share of flights and seats across all routes to the Middle Eastern country.

Commenting on the notable launch, Budapest Airport’s Chief Commercial Officer, Kam Jandu says: “There is clearly bi-directional demand for the Eilat Ovda to Budapest market, adding Ryanair to our operations to Israel strengthens our excellent service as one of the fastest growing airports in Europe. We’re highly honoured that Ryanair chose Budapest as one of its first links with Eilat Ovda, and indeed Israel.”
