Cobalt Air commences daily services between Heathrow and Larnaca

Traditional Heathrow Beefeater and Guard welcome for Cobalt crew.

Departures to Larnaca from Heathrow offer convenient onward connections to Cobalt’s Abu Dhabi, UAE services – on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

LARNACA, CYPRUS – Cobalt Air inaugurated a new daily service between Heathrow and Larnaca, re-establishing an important link last served by the former Cyprus Airways in 2015. A new, enhanced business class offering, including dine on demand, is being introduced coinciding with service start, complementing the airline’s increasingly popular economy experience. A limited number of great value seats are still available over the Easter period.

The addition of Heathrow on 27th March makes it a hat-trick of London airports for expanding Cobalt Air, which is already established at London Stansted and Gatwick, plus Manchester in north west UK.

Departures to Larnaca from Heathrow also offer convenient onward connections to Cobalt’s Abu Dhabi, UAE services – on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Andrew Madar, CEO of Cobalt Air, commented: "Cobalt is already Cyprus’ largest airline, offering flights to over 20 destinations from the island. We are delighted to be extending our network further with a daily service between Heathrow and Larnaca. At Cobalt, we offer great value and service in our Economy cabin and large bespoke seats plus dine-on-demand catering in our Business cabin.”

Simon Eastburn, Director of Airline Business Development at Heathrow said, “We are delighted to welcome Cobalt Air to Heathrow. This daily service gives passengers more choice and greater opportunity to fly to this popular short-haul holiday destination. We hope passengers enjoy the fantastic choice of dining options and services we offer in Terminal 3.”

Cobalt is flying Airbus A320 aircraft from London Heathrow to Larnaca with 12 seats in Business and 144 in Economy. Its new business class product is in a two-by-two configuration with a 40” pitch and economy a generous 30”.

Timed to appeal to both business and leisure passengers, flights depart London Heathrow’s Terminal 3 at 17.20 and arrive into Larnaca at 23.50. On the return journey, flights leave Larnaca at 12.45 midday and arrive back in London Heathrow T3 at 15.45.

Also, Cobalt Air began its twice weekly services between Copenhagen and Larnaca. A limited number of great value seats on its Airbus A319/A320 aircraft are still available over the Easter period.

In addition to bringing a new connection to Cyprus, the service provides a convenient gateway to the resort of Ayia Napa, located just 30 minutes’ drive from Larnaca Airport.  Popular for its beaches and vibrant night-life,  Ayia Napa re-opens in April for the summer holiday season.

Andrew Madar commented: “We are delighted to be extending our network further with a twice weekly service between Copenhagen and Larnaca for Summer 2018. At Cobalt, our aim is to offer great value and service. Most of our crew are from Cyprus, which means that your holiday and a warm Cypriot welcome starts the moment you board the aircraft.”

Morten Tranberg Mortensen, Director of Airline Sales at Copenhagen Airport said, "We’re delighted to welcome Cobalt, this exciting new and expanding carrier here at Scandinavia’s largest airport, and we wish them all the very best with the launch of this new route.  More connectivity to the sun is always welcome from Copenhagen!"

Targeting the leisure market, with 144 all-economy seats, flights depart Copenhagen’s Terminal 2, early Wednesday and Saturday mornings. On the return journey, flights leave Larnaca Tuesday and Friday evenings.
