Delta to be first U.S. airline to fly the most technologically advanced widebody

The delivery is the first of five A350-900s scheduled for delivery to Delta in 2017. The aircraft features 32 seats in the Delta One cabin, 48 seats in Delta Premium Select and 226 seats in the Main Cabin.

BANGKOK – Delta Air Lines has taken delivery of its first A350-900, and will be the first U.S. airline to operate the newest member of Airbus’ leading widebody family. The A350 XWB will bring unrivalled eco-efficiency and a superior passenger experience to primarily transpacific routes starting in October.

The A350 XWB was the first aircraft to incorporate the innovative passenger experience elements collectively known as Airspace by Airbus. Delta’s customers will enjoy the quietest twin-aisle cabin, with more personal space and the largest overhead bins in the business. More fresh air, LED ambient lighting, and optimization of cabin pressure, temperature and humidity all combine for absolute passenger wellbeing.

The A350 XWB also boasts the latest aerodynamic design, carbon fiber fuselage and wings, and the fuel-efficient Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines. This combination of technologies translates into unequaled operational efficiency, with a 25 percent reduction in fuel burn and emissions, and significantly lower maintenance costs.

To date, Airbus has recorded a total of 847 firm orders for the A350 XWB from 45 customers worldwide, already making it one of the most successful widebody aircraft ever.

Delta Expands Austin, Adds Medford, Oregon Service from Seattle
Delta Air Lines will add a second daily nonstop flight from Seattle to Austin, Texas, beginning Oct. 1, 2017. Building off the strong results from its service that launched on June 12, Delta will expand its schedule to provide the only morning departure from Seattle.

Additionally, Delta will add daily nonstop service from Seattle to Medford, Oregon, beginning Oct. 1, 2017. Medford is Delta's ninth Pacific Northwest destination from Seattle and complements recently added service to Eugene and Redmond, Oregon, giving customers access to the airline's growing network from Seattle.

Delta will offer one daily flight between Seattle and Medford, operated by Delta Connection carrier SkyWest Airlines using 76-seat, two-class E-75s equipped with First Class and Comfort+ seating as well as onboard Wi-Fi.

"Our Austin flight has been tremendously popular, and with this additional flight, we offer Seattle customers the best schedule options for business travel with a morning and afternoon departure from both cities," said John Caldwell, Delta's Vice President – Seattle. "Additionally, our new service to Medford means we now can offer customers access to nine daily destinations throughout the Pacific Northwest from our Sea-Tac hub."

Delta has added seven daily year-round destinations from Seattle since July 2016, including: Austin, Texas; Nashville, Tennessee; Eugene, Oregon; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Chicago, Illinois; Redmond, Oregon; and Raleigh, North Carolina. Service to Lihue, Hawaii will begin in December 2017. In addition to the new destinations, Delta is expanding service to existing destinations from Seattle with a second daily flight to Boston and Orlando, a fifth daily flight to Orange County and San Diego, and an eighth daily flight to Portland.
