DUBAI, UAE – Emirates has inaugurated its Airbus 340-300 aircraft on its Dubai–Dakar route effective from 31 March 2013. Previously serviced by an Airbus 330-200, deploying the Airbus 340-300 on Emirates’ flights EK 798 and 797 will give more than 16% boost to seat capacity.
“With the additional capacity, we will help to satisfy the growing demand, while providing more opportunities for travel between Dakar, Dubai and beyond to our network of more than 130 destinations across the Middle East, the Indian Sub-continent, Asia and the Far East through our hub in Dubai” said Jean Luc Grillet, Emirates’ Senior Vice President Commercial Operations for Africa

All classes of the new aircraft are equipped with Emirates’ award-winning ice entertainment system with hundreds of channels on-demand entertainment to choose from, including movies, television programmes, games, audio books and music from across the world. In addition to the entertainment, passengers can enjoy delicacies from the exclusive menu served by Emirates Cabin Crew from over 120 nations, including Senegal.
Since 2010, Emirates SkyCargo has been supporting the Senegalese economy, by providing efficient and cost-effective connections to six continents and has become a valued partner for many local businesses, carrying goods from various points on its global network to Senegal, including oil industry equipment from the UAE; textiles from Asia, electronics from East Asia and Europe; and a number of products and garments from India. SkyCargo also facilitates exports from Senegal to the UAE including fresh fish, fruit and seasonal vegetables, supporting the foundations for a trade relationship worth over USD 350 million in 2011according to figures from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Trade.
Emirates commenced operations in Senegal in September 2010 and flies four times a week from Leopold Sedar Senghor International Airport in Dakar to Dubai. EK 797 departs Dubai at 0755hrs every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday and arrives in Dakar at 1415hrs. EK 798 leaves the Senegalese capital at 1745hrs and gets into Dubai at 0720hrs the following day.
With the launch of the online payment solution in February 2013, customers in Senegal can pay for their flights on www.emirates.com/sn using locally issued credit or debit cards. Some of other services available through the website include: online check-in, the ability to pre-select your seat, UAE visa application and special meal requests for specific dietary requirements. Customers are also able to book hotels, rent a car and even subscribe for mobile flight status alerts and see what is screening on Emirates’ inflight ice entertainment system. Customers also have the ability to check their baggage allowance, including the estimated cost calculator for excess baggage and search for low cost airline connections.
