To celebrate the launch of the new Bristol to Galway route Aer Arann shows its commitment to the local community by offering support to the Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) and their  ‘sibling service’.

CHSW offers respite, relaxation and a sense of community for children and their families at both the Little Bridge House and the recently opened Charlton Farm. In the South West alone, there are over 1000 children with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition making it an invaluable service to the wider community. Aer Arann has donated flights to Galway from Bristol International Airport which will enable CHSW to take some of their siblings away on holiday.

Next week, sees the inaugural flight from Bristol to Galway on Monday 14 May. Galway is known for its vibrant lifestyle, festivals and culture and will be an excellent short-break destination for those in and around Bristol. The service will operate four days per week with one-way fares from £30 including taxes and charges

Anne Packer, Corporate Fundraiser for Children’s Hospice South West said “At CHSW we place a great deal of emphasis on supporting the whole family, not just the sick child. Our sibling service aims to support siblings pre-bereavement, and ensure they have some fun. We are grateful to Aer Arann for supporting this valuable service and offering to take a group of our siblings to Galway, as they don’t often get the opportunity to go away. Aer Arann’s generosity will give the siblings a much welcomed break.”

Tony Hallwood, Aviation Development Director, Bristol International Airport said “Whether you love great food, great music or the great outdoors, Galway has a host of attractions for travellers from the South West, including the world-renowned oyster and jazz festivals. Golfers are also spoilt for choice, with excellent links and parkland courses within easy reach. Aer Arann’s new service also links the region’s businesses with Ireland’s third largest city, and a major centre for the technology and financial services sectors.”

Bristol International and its staff have supported Children’s Hospice South West for the past two years, raising well over £40,000 in the process.

Colin Lewis, Head of Sales at Aer Arann commented: “We are committed to investing in local communities and we are delighted to support the excellent services provided by the Children’s Hospice South West as we launch the Bristol to Galway route, we hope they enjoy their visit to Galway.”
