Star1 Airlines launches direct flights from Vilnius to London

Last Friday 3rd July 2009, the Lithuanian company Star1 Airlines will commence a direct connection between Vilnius and London. The direct flights to London will operate 4 times a week with the first landing at Stanstead airport.

Apart from the direct flights to London, Star1 Airlines will operate flights to Dublin and Girona (Barcelona). Star1 Airlines is planning to expand regular flights to other European destinations after adding a second aircraft to its fleet. Flights to Paris, Milan and additional ones to London are now being planned.

"We will continue putting every effort into renewing connections between Vilnius, as well as other places in Lithuania, and European countries and intend to present new destinations with a new aircraft at the end of the summer," M. Laivys said.

The company will use the Boeing 737-700 Next-Generation aircraft, flying 148 passengers. The airline plans to lease another plane of the same type in the second half of this summer. In addition to regular flights, it will also operate charter flights.
