The Sofitel Capsis Hotel Rhodes & Convention Center Marika Capsis 2000 operates all year round and is located in Rhodes on the private beach of Ixia, 5 minutes from the Medieval City of Rhodes, 10 minutes from the International airport of the island and consists of 691 totally renovated executive guestrooms.
The construction of the new convention center began at the end of November 1999 and was completed in 9 months with a total cost of 7 billion Greek Drachmas.
The Sofitel Capsis Hotel Rhodes & Convention Center Marika Capsis 2000 is the largest Resort Convention Center in Greece and one of the largest in the Mediterranean. It has a total conference capacity for up to 8.000 delegates and its biggest Plenary Hall, with daylight, has a capacity for up to 3.000 delegates. In total it features 100 Conference Halls and Syndicate Rooms, an Exhibition Center of 3.170 sq.m, and the latest telecommunication, translation services and audiovisual equipment.
The whole area of Ixia, offers an additional 10.000 guestrooms in 3, 4, and 5-star hotels (walking distance from the hotel up to 5 minutes by shuttle bus). Therefore, Rhodes is now the New Convention Destination in Europe. The first event to take place in this new convention center from September 30, 2001 until October 05, 2001 was the conference of the manufacturing company of airplanes Embraer with 1.200 delegates.
