EuroShorts Film Competition announces long-list finalists

The selected 10 long-list finalists will now showcase their idea through short video pitches which have been included on the EuroShorts website.

BRUSSELS – The European Travel Commission (ETC) and Screen South are delighted to announce the 10 long-list finalists for the short film competition EuroShorts. This inaugural international short film competition has drawn entries from 24 countries. The finalists were chosen on their short film proposal on the theme of “Europe – A Never Ending Journey”. The winner will receive 20,000 euros and first class InterRail passes for the production. The 10 selected long-list finalists are:

  • Today, now, Philipp Benedikt, Austria
  • Travelling makes you younger, Costas Chrysanthou, Cyprus
  • Roll the dice, Benoit Detalle, Serbia
  • Keep exploring, Temujin Doran, United Kingdom
  • One month, 40 countries, Sara Galvao, United Kingdom
  • A travelling mind, Fred Handberg, Sweden
  • Follow me, Matthew Hopper, United Kingdom
  • Ready 4 Europe, Denis Mauguit, Belgium
  • How way leads on to way, Giancarlo Spinelli, Italy
  • Wayfaring, Timothy Watchorn, United Kingdom

The selected 10 long-list finalists will now showcase their idea through short video pitches which have been included on the EuroShorts website. These pitches will also be posted on Visit Europe social media so that members of the public may comment on the long-listed entries. The pitch idea with the most likes is guaranteed to have a place in the shortlist.

The 5 shortlisted projects will be announced on 14 June 2013. The Jury will invite these shortlisted applicants to present the projects in Brussels with a panel of experts including Academy Award-winning filmmaker Sir Alan Parker, Chairman of Cineregio Philippe Reynaert and Chairman of Screen South Graham Benson.

The winning filmmakers’ pitch will be announced on 21 June 2013 in Brussels and they will receive 20,000 euros and first class InterRail passes to deliver their production by the end of September 2013.

Screen South, a Cultural Development Agency has been appointed as the management company for EuroShorts to provide Executive Producer support that will assist the finalist through the production process.
