Thomas Cook Airlines has increased the number of seats on sale from Scotland to Turkey by forty three per cent this year and has more than 140 weekly departures to Turkey from fourteen UK airports.

Thomas Cook Airlines launched a new weekly flight from Edinburgh Airport to Antalya, Turkey on Saturday May 5. The new weekly flight (Saturday departure) on the A321 aircraft to Antalya had 215 excited customers on board who were all looking forward to some May bank holiday sunshine.

Thomas Cook Airlines has increased the number of seats on sale from Scotland to Turkey by forty three per cent this year and has more than 140 weekly departures to Turkey from fourteen UK airports.

Henry Sunley, Commercial Director at Thomas Cook Airlines, says, “Turkey is a really popular destination for our customers and we are very pleased to add Edinburgh airport to our growing number of UK airports, meaning we can take even more people on holiday.”

Alfie Hainie Manager, Thomas Cook Store Manager at Edinburgh Hanover Street, said: “We love creating memorable holidays for our customers and it is fantastic that we can now send our customers in Edinburgh to their local airport to fly to one of our most popular destinations.

“Our Thomas Cook Holiday Report showed that 98 per cent of people in Scotland consider the flight to be an important or very important part of their overall holiday, so adding Edinburgh airport to our summer timetable is wonderful news!”

Gordon Dewar, Chief Executive of Edinburgh Airport said: “It’s great to see Thomas Cook take off at Edinburgh Airport, bringing another strong brand to Scotland’s busiest airport and offering yet more choice for the 13.4 million people who pass through the airport every year. The Antalya route will be a great opportunity for people to visit Turkey and we look forward to its success.”

The new flight comes as the Thomas Cook Holiday Report 2018 reveals that holidaymakers are returning to Turkey this summer with a surge in bookings compared to last year. Thomas Cook Airlines is the largest UK carrier serving Turkey and Thomas Cook’s holiday bookings to Turkey are up 84% year-on-year.
