Increased fixed allotments and more flights to Egypt and Canary Islands as well as from Berlin and Nuremberg.
BERLIN – Germania has been able to sell more fixed allotments on the airline’s touristic flights for the upcoming winter season 2017/18. This is due to growing demand from renowned German tour operators for the Egyptian destinations of Hurghada, Sharm el-Sheikh and Marsa Alam: “Guaranteed sunshine, relatively short flight times, as well as our complimentary service on board were the driving factors that have convinced the tour operators," said Daniela Pilz, Germania’s Director of Sales – Tour Operators.
Germania has doubled the number of flights it operates to Egypt this coming winter, and is also offering connections to warm water regions all around the Mediterranean and Middle East. The new winter flight programme is not drastically different from the one of the previous year, but return flights have been timed to better suit the season. For example, some connections in January and February, which are traditionally low in bookings, have been taken out of Germania’s winter schedule. Whereas more flights will be available during popular travel dates, such as Christmas, New Year and early Spring.
For travellers who like the Mediterranean sun, but do not like extremely hot weather during their holiday, the airline with the green and white livery offers an alternative: winter flights from Berlin, Dresden, Dusseldorf, Hamburg and Nuremberg to Paphos on Cyprus. There is also a reliable flight programme to the Canary Islands. In addition, Germania has slightly increased their number of connections to Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and – new from Dusseldorf and Nuremberg – La Palma. Furthermore, Germania will be flying to Palma de Mallorca and Antalya, in Turkey, during the winter, though with slightly reduced frequency. Connections to Malaga, in Spain, however, have been increased.
New to the flight programme are flights to Faro, in southern Portugal, from Dresden, Munster/Osnabruck and Nuremberg. The number of flights to Tel Aviv from Dusseldorf, Hamburg and Nuremberg has also been increased. Germania will be basing a third aircraft at Nuremberg’s Albrecht Durer Airport, as well as a second plane in Berlin-Schonefeld. Alongside their tourist destinations, Germania will increase connections from Berlin-Schonefeld Airport to Beirut and Tehran in the coming winter season. Additionally, long-term holiday makers – those who stay at their destination for 29 days or longer – are entitled to an increased 30 kilogramme baggage allowance on flights to all Germania destinations.
