LATAM Airlines welcomes 2017 with new international destinations

LATAM Airlines Chile will fly non-stop between Santiago, Chile and Santa Cruz, Bolivia from March 2017. Operations begin between Santiago and Orlando, USA as well as Lima, Peru and Cartagena, Colombia.

SANTIAGO, CHILE – LATAM Airlines Group (LATAM) announced a new non-stop service between Santiago, Chile and Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, with three weekly flights starting 28 March 2017.  The new service is the 19th route that the airline group has published and/or launched since January 2016 as part of the continued strengthening of its international network.

Yesterday also marked the first of LATAM’s two weekly direct flights between Santiago and Orlando (United States), which will operate on a seasonal basis until 1 March 2017.  Yesterday, LATAM Airlines Peru inaugurated its non-stop service between Lima (Peru) and Cartagena de Indias (Colombia), offering four flights per week.

“With this new Santiago-Santa Cruz flight, LATAM will become the only airline group to operate direct services between the two cities, offering greater convenience and faster journey times than any other carrier,” said Enrique Cueto, CEO, LATAM Airlines Group. “We will continue exploring opportunities to develop new LATAM destinations and improve connectivity in the region.  The past year is proof of this commitment, with the introduction of 19 new routes including Lima-Washington D.C. and Sao Paulo-Johannesburg, LATAM’s first flight to Africa.”

In 2016, LATAM Airlines Group and its affiliates launched a number of unprecedented routes including Sao Paulo-Johannesburg (the only flight between South America and Africa operated by a Latin American airline) and Santiago-Puerto Natales, Chile (widening access and significantly reducing journey times to the world-famous Torres del Paine National Park in Chilean Patagonia).  It also recently announced a flight between Santiago and Melbourne, which will become the longest non-stop route in LATAM’s history when it begins operations in October 2017.

Santiago-Santa Cruz
From 28 March 2017, LATAM Airlines Chile flight LA864 will depart Santiago at 09:00 local time on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, arriving in Santa Cruz (Viru Viru International Airport) at 11:00 (local time) the same day, with a journey time of three hours.  The return flight, LA865, will depart Santa Cruz at 12:00 local time on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, arriving in Santiago at 16:00 the same day (local time), with a journey time of three hours.

The service will be operated by Airbus A320 aircraft, offering more than 52,000 additional seats per year between the two cities.
