Galileo International has signed a three-year, bus transport agreement with Etihad Airways. Through the agreement, travel agents will be able to book a bus transfer as a segment in the Galileo system, under which a passenger will be transported either to or from the airport by bus. This booking facility will now be available to all users of the Galileo GDS system including Galileo-connected travel agencies, corporate customers and Travelport online agencies booking through Galileo.

“We have once again demonstrated our ability to reach agreements that benefit all in the travel industry, and we are delighted that Etihad Airways has designated Galileo as a long-term distribution partner,” said Fazal Muhammed, Director Airline Services, MEA, Pakistan & Sri Lanka, Galileo by Travelport. “Galileo agencies tell us that they want access to comprehensive and relevant content, seamlessly integrated on our desktop. The agreement with Etihad Airways addresses this need and provides agencies with a cost-efficient process to book bus transfer services on Etihad Airways.”

“Galileo solutions and services are designed for easy integration and modification, enabling travel agencies to increase solutions for the passengers. We are pleased to provide Galileo subscribers with the ability and access to be able to book one of the many services offered by Etihad Airways,” said Ali Saleh Al Bloushi, AVP, Revenue Management – Etihad Airways. “Our relationship with Galileo is a critical component in achieving our key business objectives of growing revenue and effectively managing our distribution costs.”

Etihad’s ground services started in 2005, and since then there has seen a rapid increase in the take-up of the luxury coach bookings.
