SATA International to resume direct flights to the Azores just in time for Easter

Characterised by volcanic landscape, ancient landmarks and sweeping coastlines, the nine islands of the Azores promise an abundance of adventures for the whole family.

Spend quality time with the family this April and enjoy an active Easter holiday in the Azores. From a day mountain biking through the forests to an afternoon of whale watching, parents are guaranteed an unforgettable adventure with their children. With SATA International resuming direct flights from London Gatwick to Ponta Delgada, Sao Miguel, on the 4th April 2015, the perfect Easter getaway is just under four hours away.

Characterised by volcanic landscape, ancient landmarks and sweeping coastlines, the nine islands of the Azores promise an abundance of adventures for the whole family. Thanks to SATA International’s inter-island flights, families can hop from island to island exploring every inch of the Azores, discovering the secret boltholes and hidden gems along the way including the great volcanic cave, Furna do Enxofre on the isle of Graciosa and the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Angra do Herismo on the island of Terceira.

From land to sea, the whole family can jet out into the waters of Pico Island by boat and marvel at some of the world’s most fascinating creatures. Sperm whales, bottlenose dolphins and the largest of them all, the blue whale, can all be spotted during this magical experience.

The dark cliffs and green valleys of the Azores lend themselves to an exhilarating array of sporting activities from abseiling down basalt peaks to sailing across the open sea. Families can take on Sao Miguel’s terrain together, mountain biking through the lush forests and green valleys surrounding Furnas Crater Lake.  Or for an entirely liberating experience, ride horseback along the scenic coastal trails of Sao Miguel.

For active families planning a jam-packed trip, SATA International offers a complimentary 8kg hand luggage and 20kg checked baggage allowance service, as well as free baggage allowance for golf and diving equipment up to 15kg. During the flight, passengers will also enjoy a complimentary meal and refreshments served throughout.
