South African Airways welcomes elimination of Yellow Fever vaccinations on Zambia and Tanzania routes

This announcement follows the recent introduction to Kaza Univisa, a common tourist visa for Zambia and Zimbabwe, which will save time and money for travelers who now have to obtain one visa only to visit both countries.

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. – South African Airways (SAA) welcomes the elimination of yellow fever vaccinations, which is no longer necessary for travel between Zambia, Tanzania and South Africa. The announcement was made by the South African Department of Health and the requirement was lifted with immediate effect.

The decision was made at the World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland, and comes after the World Health Organisation confirmed that Zambia had low yellow fever potential exposure status, which means travellers should not be required to carry a yellow fever vaccination certificate.

“We are very pleased with this announcement as our flights to Zambia and Tanzania will be even more popular with travellers,” says Sylvain Bosc, SAA Chief Commercial Officer. “We welcome all changes which will ease travel to South Africa and allow for easier connections at our world class hub at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg.”

This announcement follows the recent introduction to Kaza Univisa, a common tourist visa for Zambia and Zimbabwe, which will save time and money for travelers who now have to obtain one visa only to visit both countries.

These decisions will make travel to Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe easier when transiting SAA’s hub in Johannesburg. South African Airways and its regional airline partners South African Express and Airlink offer service to Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, to Victoria Falls, to Lusaka and Ndola in Zambia, as well as to Harare and Bulawayo in Zimbabwe.
