Spirit Airlines grows in Houston

Spirit recently started operations at IAH with twice daily nonstop service between Houston and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport on September 20, 2012, with connections available to 12 destinations throughout the Americas.

HOUSTON – Just two weeks after starting service in Houston, Spirit Airlines is already expanding with the addition of daily nonstop service to two more cities. The airline began ultra low fare service from Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) to Chicago O’Hare International Airport and Las Vegas McCarran International Airport.

Spirit recently started operations at IAH with twice daily nonstop service between Houston and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport on September 20, 2012, with connections available to 12 destinations throughout the Americas, including Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Fort Myers, Las Vegas, Myrtle Beach, Oakland/San Francisco, Phoenix/Mesa, Portland (Oregon), Tampa, and Toluca/Mexico City.

“We’re thrilled to continue saving consumers money and satisfying their need for affordable low fares as we offer the best value in travel,” says Spirit’s Chief Marketing Officer Barry Biffle. “Spirit’s ultra low fares and optional add-ons provide customers a total price that’s tough to beat.”

“We welcome today’s new non-stop flights to Las Vegas and Chicago as Spirit Airlines offers value-priced fares connecting Bush Intercontinental to important gateways in the west and Midwest,” said Mario Diaz, director of aviation for the Houston Airport System. “It’s a win-win opportunity as Houston gains new air service from the Florida-based carrier.”

“On behalf of Mayor Rahm Emanuel, we’re pleased that Spirit Airlines’ continues to add service at Chicago’s global gateway – O’Hare International Airport,” said Rosemarie S. Andolino, Commissioner of the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA). “The low-fare service to Houston from Chicago is great news for travelers.”

“McCarran International Airport is pleased that Spirit will offer new choices for travelers who wish to fly between Houston and Las Vegas,” said Rosemary A. Vassiliadis, Deputy Director of Aviation for Clark County, Nevada. “Last year more than 300,000 visitors flew into Las Vegas from the Houston area, and we believe Spirit will help to further grow that number.”

“We are excited to welcome Houston to our ever-evolving partnership with Spirit,” said Cathy Tull, senior vice president of marketing for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. “Every new destination that is added to the schedule provides additional flexibility and more options for travelers.”
