Sunrise Airways cleared for take-off to Santo Domingo

New daily charter service from Port-au-Prince to begin November 15, 2013.

PORT-AU-PRINCE, HAITI – Sunrise Airways is spreading its wings once again, adding Santo Domingo to its rapidly growing list of international destinations. The Port-au-Prince based carrier has received approval from Haiti’s Civil Aviation Authority and the Dominican Republic’s Junta de Aviacion Civil (JAC) to operate new regular charter flights between Port-au-Prince, Haiti and La Isabella International Airport (JBQ) in Santo Domingo. The new service launches today, November 15, 2013 in time for the Battle of Vertieres Day holiday weekend.

“As the majority of our staff is comprised of Haitians and citizens of the Dominican Republic, all of us at Sunrise Airways are particularly proud to take air service between our neighboring countries to new heights of excellence,” said Philippe Bayard, President of Sunrise Airways. “Our dream of establishing a Port-au-Prince hub to better serve the Western Caribbean becomes more of a reality with this new route to Santo Domingo, serving both business and leisure travelers with superior service and reliability.”

The new service between Port-au-Prince and Santo Domingo will operate daily, except Saturdays. Sunrise Airways flights between Port-au-Prince and Santo Dominigo are being sold in conjunction with Sirep Tours for purchase through travel agents in Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

“As the market matures, we plan to transition to regularly scheduled passenger service,” said Bayard.

Santo Domingo becomes the third international route launched by Sunrise Airways in 2013. The carrier initiated new service between Cap Haitien and Providenciales, Turks & Caicos on August 26, 2013. Sunrise Airways flights between Port-au-Prince and Holguin, Cuba were launched on November 1, 2013.

Sunrise Airways will deploy 19-seat Jetstream 32 EP aircraft on its new Port-au-Prince- Santo Domingo service, providing ample head- and leg-room, plus the added comfort of refurbished cabins and fresh upholstered seating.
