UK survey reveals how kids really want to spend their holidays

Children were quizzed over what they would pack first in their suitcases and the results found an iPad or other tablet ranked above favourite toy, sunglasses or a bucket and spade. When asked about where they would most like to visit, nearly three quarters plumped for the USA, with Spain following in second place.

A survey from holiday company, Holiday Gems, has uncovered how kids really view the holiday you’re taking them on and what they’re looking for in their dream holiday.

  • 74% of kids would pack a tablet before a bucket and spade for their holiday.
  • Nearly half of those questioned chose the USA as their dream holiday spot, with Florida coming out on top.
  • Sponge Bob Square Pants and Elsa from Frozen were the characters who are the holiday companions of choice for kids.

Children were quizzed over what they would pack first in their suitcases and the results found an iPad or other tablet ranked above favourite toy, sunglasses or a bucket and spade.

When asked about where they would most like to visit, nearly three quarters plumped for the USA, with Spain following in second place.

Chris Blackwell, sales director at Holiday Gems said: “We wanted to see what dream family holidays are like through a child’s eye view. Families work hard all year to spend time together and create memories on their holiday.

“Perhaps it’s not surprising that a tablet is the favourite thing to pack for a holiday as it becomes a familiar feature in most aspects of family life. We couldn’t believe the little gems the other children we interviewed came out with. Whether it was stitching mum and dad up for letting them eat ice cream for breakfast every day or hoping to visit the casinos in the USA – it was hilarious.”
