Travel Tripper launches "Automated Best Rate Guarantee" to combat rate parity

New feature of the company's core product empowers hotels to encourage direct room bookings by incorporating meta-search and automated price matching into the booking engine.

NEW YORK – Travel Tripper, one of the industry’s most innovative providers of hotel reservation solutions, announced the launch of its new Automated Best Rate Guarantee feature, which stems from Travel Tripper’s core product, RezTrip. Automated Best Rate Guarantee will help the hotel industry combat rate parity issues and empower individual hotels to compete against online travel agencies (OTAs) by displaying meta-search in the booking engine and automatically price matching whenever rates are lower elsewhere. The new solution has been running in closed beta for several months.

Automated Best Rate Guarantee acts like a micro-meta-search engine within the RezTrip booking engine. Whenever a guest searches for a hotel room, RezTrip will pull real-time rates from OTA sites and display them alongside the hotel’s own rates. If the OTA rate is higher, the Automated Best Rate Guarantee will instantly match the lowest price. Hotels can also program an additional discount over the lowest OTA rate as a reward to customers for uncovering a rate parity incident.

“This feature will revolutionize the hotel industry,” said Gautam Lulla, President of Travel Tripper. “What was once a painful process of manually cross-checking Best Rate Guarantees will now be fixed automatically, and hotel companies can gain ease of mind that they’re truly offering the best price for their guests.”

For the consumer, Automated Best Rate Guarantee adds an extra layer of price transparency that encourages the potential guest to complete the booking with the hotel directly. Consumers will have the confidence that hotels are offering the best prices possible, and the automated price match helps eliminate any human error that may occur when consumers try to dispute price discrepancies with the hotel via phone or by email.

“Price comparison during the travel booking process is inevitable, so it is reassuring to the customer when the hotel website can illustrate that it truly has the best rates available,” says Lulla.

For hotels, this feature will help to battle the issue of rate parity, one of the biggest difficulties hotels face when managing their distribution channels. Not only does Automated Best Rate Guarantee ensure that prices are always in parity at the time of booking, the system notifies hotels owners whenever it finds discrepancies between the hotel website’s price and the OTAs’ listed price.

“Automated Best Rate Guarantee will ultimately help hotels to save money and earn more revenue – RezTrip clients will no longer have to spend extra on rate shopping tools to manage price parity, and the automated price match on the booking engine will drive more conversions,” said Joan Lee, Director of Revenue Optimization at Travel Tripper.
