LATAM Airlines inaugurates first flight between Lima and Barcelona

The service marks the 11th international route launched by LATAM Airlines Group in 2016. LATAM Airlines Peru will operate three non-stop flights per week between Lima and Barcelona.

BARCELONA, SPAIN – LATAM Airlines Peru operated its first non-stop flight between Lima, Peru and Barcelona, Spain, marking the start of three weekly services between the two cities.

LATAM flight LA2430, a Boeing 767 aircraft carrying 232 passengers, departed from Jorge Chavez international airport in Lima last night and arrived to a water cannon salute at Barcelona’s El Prat airport at 14:05 today (local time).

“With this new flight – the 11th international service that LATAM Airlines Group and its affiliates have launched this year – we continue to strengthen our network and improve connectivity between Latin America and Europe,” said Roberto Alvo, Senior Vice President of International and Alliances, LATAM Airlines Group. “In addition to serving an unrivalled 119 destinations throughout Latin America, LATAM now flies to six major cities across Europe as well as principal cities in North America, Africa and Oceania.”

The Lima-Barcelona service will complement LATAM Airlines Group and its affiliates’ daily non-stop flights between Sao Paulo and Barcelona as well its non-stop services from Lima, Sao Paulo, Santiago and Guayaquil (Ecuador) to Madrid, where customers can connect to and from Barcelona via oneworld partners. The group also operates non-stop services from Latin America to a further four European destinations: London, Paris, Frankfurt and Milan.

LATAM estimates that more than 63,500 passengers per year will fly the new Lima-Barcelona service: “We’re confident that passengers on both sides of the Atlantic will welcome what these two special cities have to offer and benefit from greater convenience, shorter journey times and increased connectivity,” Mr Alvo added.
