In the year that they are celebrating 150 years of winter tourism, the Kulm Hotel St Moritz has paired up with First Luggage to make light work of getting snow sports equipment to Switzerland’s Engadin.
When winter sports came into being in the mid-19th century, skis and sleds were so heavy and the overland journey from the United Kingdom to Switzerland so arduous that guests left their skis in the hotels from one year to the next. Even today, visitors can see for themselves some of the historic winter sports equipment that was left behind by the first enthusiasts, be it a wooden pair of skis or one of the first Cresta Run sleds.
In the last 150 years, however, virtually every aspect of a holiday has been transformed – though the Kulm Hotel’s legendary hospitality remains the same – and guests no longer need to leave their favourite pair of skis at the Kulm Hotel till the next winter season.
