FEDHASA talks energy solutions and financing in partnership with Nedbank

FEDHASA East Coast, in partnership with Nedbank, unveils its third event that focuses on finding solutions to help the hospitality industry overcome the challenges caused by the energy crisis.

DURBAN – Building on the success of FEDHASA‘s  (Federated Hospitality Association of South Africa)”Talking Energy with FEDHASA” events in Cape Town and Johannesburg earlier this year, the third event in the series is set to take place on July 19, 2023, in Umhlanga Rocks. The flooding and energy challenges have had a significant impact on FEDHASA members in KwaZulu-Natal, underscoring the critical importance of this session in identifying sustainable solutions for their businesses.

In partnership with Nedbank, the event unites the hospitality industry, energy specialists, alternative energy providers, and funding experts to address the pressing challenge of the intensifying energy crisis in South Africa. The primary focus is to explore viable solutions that ensure business survival in this challenging energy landscape and safeguard them for the future.

“The third ‘Talking Energy with FEDHASA’ event promises to be an empowering and inspiring day featuring panel discussions and sessions that will explore the future of the hospitality industry and provide practical advice and information on energy alternatives,” says Brett Tungay, FEDHASA East Coast Chairperson.

Attendees will hear from energy providers leading the charge against the energy crisis, including Nedbank economist, Liandra da Silva. Moreover, they will have the opportunity to engage with alternative energy providers and explore a wide range of options, all in interactive formats. Sustainable energy experts attending include Roger Hislop, Executive at Smart Energy, CBI Electric; Marshall Fourie, Utility Management Specialist at Energy Resource Optimizers and representatives from NuHome Africa and Hohm Energy.

Says Tungay: “Our primary objective for organising this third event is to tackle the energy crisis in the hospitality sector head-on by highlighting solutions. As the industry continues to recover while continuing to face the devastating effects of the energy crisis and flooding, it is crucial for us to play a key role in driving transformative changes and presenting viable solutions for hospitality businesses in KwaZulu-Natal. Our event aims to inspire and lead the way in building a stronger and more sustainable future for the industry.”
