During the eleventh month of 2023, Katowice Airport noted 2 706 aircraft operations, i.e. 301 more (+12.5%) in comparison with the same time period in 2022.

The Upper Silesian Aviation Group (GTL SA) – the company managing Katowice Wojciech Korfanty International Airport in Pyrzowice, Poland – has summarised passenger traffic for the eleventh month of 2023. In November 2023, 312 517 pasażerów were handled at Katowice Airport. It was the best eleventh month in the history of Katowice Airport; the previous record came from 2019, when 290 138 passengers were carried on all flights to and from Katowice Airport.

On scheduled flights, handled at Katowice Airport by Wizz Air, Ryanair, LOT Polish Airlines and Air Dolomiti/Lufthansa, 216 824 travellers were served in November 2023. Dortmund, London-Stansted, London-Luton, Athens and Abu Dhabi were the most popular destinations.

Last month, 95 316 passengers were served at Katowice Airport on charter flights, handled on behalf of travel agencies and tour operators. In November 2023, most popular were charter flights to Hurghada, Marsa Alam, Sharm El Sheikh, Antalya and Zanzibar.

From January to the end of November 2023, 5 297 287 passengers were handled at Katowice Airport, i.e. 1.13 million more (+27.2%) than the year before and 732 thousand more (+16.0%) in comparison with the record-breaking 2019. It must be emphasised that on 3 November 2023, Katowice Airport – for the first time in its history – handled more than 5 million passengers in a single calendar year.

“While the Airports Council International Europe’s data indicate that total passenger traffic in Europe is still a couple per cent lower than the record-breaking results from 2019, this year will be record-breaking for Katowice Airport. We will improve the result from 2019 by 700 thousand passengers, and handle more than 5.6 million travellers. We forecast further dynamic growth of passengers; that’s why we have a complex investment program prepared. Its realisation will allow considerable improvement of throughput of Katowice Airport’s infrastructure,” said Artur Tomasik, the President of the Board of the Upper Silesian Aviation Group (GTL SA).

During eleven months of 2023, Katowice Airport observed 42 475 aircraft take-offs and landings, i.e. 4 804 more (+12.7%) in comparison with the same time period in 2022.
