Carlson Rezidor announces first Radisson RED hotels in the Americas

The brand appeals to tech-savvy guests with an ageless millennial mindset by offering a non-traditional stay experience.

MINNEAPOLIS – Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, one of the world’s largest and most dynamic hotel groups, announced signings for the first four Radisson RED hotels in the Americas: Radisson RED Bogota, Colombia; Radisson RED Cali, Colombia; Radisson RED Campinas, Brazil; and the Radisson RED Minneapolis Downtown. Carlson Rezidor plans to open 60 Radisson RED hotels globally by 2020. The other locations currently under development include Brussels, Belgium; Capetown, South Africa; Glasgow, UK and Shenyang Hunnan, China.

“RED has already garnered strong interest and development momentum in Asia Pacific and in Europe, so we are very excited to announce our first hotels in the Americas,” said Javier Rosenberg, chief operating officer, Americas, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group. “For us, we see opportunity for Radisson RED in a segment we have termed ‘lifestyle select’ that strives to create a uniquely engaging, personalized guest experience.”

The brand appeals to tech-savvy guests with an ageless millennial mindset by offering a non-traditional stay experience. This new hotel concept combines work and play and is inspired by design, art, music and fashion. At the same time, it offers developers and property owners a lower per key cost than a traditional upscale hotel through a multi-functional approach and more efficient space planning, which significantly reduce construction and operating costs while driving higher margins.

Upon arrival at a Radisson RED hotel, guests enter a gallery where locally-inspired art is incorporated into the overall design. And instead of typical meetings facilities, there is an event studio for meetings and gatherings. Complimentary Internet access is available to all guests at all times so they stay connected. Food and beverage outlets at Radisson RED include Ouibar and the 24-hour REDeli, which will feature customized menus to cater to local tastes. Guests have the option of dining in the restaurant or taking something back to their room.

Radisson RED Bogota is a 58-key contemporary designed hotel, which is in the Virrey Park area and within walking distance to the entertainment district of Parque Calle 93. Surrounded by restaurants, nightclubs and cafes, this city center location offers true local flavor of Bogota. Large windows and a rooftop pool will offer striking views of the park and the surrounding mountains. The hotel’s food and beverage offerings include terrace seating with views of the park and city for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The hotel is scheduled to open in Q1 2016.

Radisson RED Cali, located in the heart of the city, is a 91-room new build hotel with privileged views of the Cali River. The hotel is walking distance of museums and an abundance of entertainment, including the famous Cali Zoo. Dining options include locally inspired cuisine from the region served in a unique setting with views of the city and river. The hotel will also house a salsa club that will become a destination within the city. A rooftop pool, and the majority of guest rooms have balconies offering stunning views of the city. The Radisson RED Cali is scheduled to open by Q1 2016.

Radisson RED Campinas is a 185-room new-build hotel centrally located in the Cambui neighborhood known as the best place in the city to enjoy nightlife. Cambui offers guests options of several restaurants, bars and stores. The district is located just next to downtown, the oldest part of the city and main shopping area and transport hub. The hotel will be managed by Atlantica Hotels International, Carlson Rezidor’s long- standing partner in Brazil.

Radisson RED Minneapolis Downtown is located in the heart of downtown within walking distance of the new U.S. Bank Stadium currently under construction. The 164-room new build hotel is connected to the Wells Fargo Office Tower and the stadium via the Minneapolis skyway system. The hotel will offer Radisson RED’s signature Oui Bar and REDeli with an outdoor patio. A fitness studio, event studio, gallery featuring locally-inspired art and indoor parking are also planned. The Radisson RED Minneapolis Downtown is part of a larger Minneapolis Downtown East mixed-use re-development by Ryan Companies. The hotel will be owned and managed by Carlson Rezidor and is scheduled to open in Q4 2016.
