Hotelbeds joins forces with Oracle

Hotelbeds develop an innovative IT infrastructure capable of supporting its expansion plans.

PALMA DE MALLORCA – Hotelbeds, the global accommodation wholesaler, has reached a strategic alliance with Oracle, to develop an innovative technological infrastructure capable of supporting Hotelbeds’ expansion plans, which aim to more than double the online accommodation market growth rates of 7.3% by 2015.

Hotelbeds, distinguished by its constant innovation and technological excellence, has incorporated Oracle Fusion Middleware solution and Oracle Engineered Systems (joint engineering systems) to its systems, in order to be capable of responding to the extraordinary volume of online transactions, in a context in which the online business represents 90% of Hotelbeds’ revenues. Travel trade’s most successful accommodation provider supplies over 50,000 hotels across 183 countries to travel agents, airlines and tour operators.

In this sense, Hotelbeds has promoted a strategic redesign of its technological infrastructure in order to continue to grow and ensure the availability and reliability of the IT infrastructure, which operates 24×7 and provides service to clients who access to the booking system from anywhere in the world. During high season, for example, Hotelbeds achieves more than 400 searches per second and 26,000 room nights sold per day.

The new IT architecture, based on engineering system Oracle Exadata, has significantly reduced booking times, as well as actions such as “add to the cart” and product evaluation. The major increase has been in batch process (transfers, invoices…), 10 times faster on average.
