The Balgequartier is currently being developed as one of the most important urban development projects in Bremen by the Joh. Jacobs & Co. group along Langenstraße in a central location.

MUNICH / BREMEN – limehome, leading technology-based provider and operator of fully digitalised design flats in Europe, will expand its presence in Bremen and open 82 flats in the Balgequartier during 2025.

The hospitality company is the only provider of accommodation in the entire ensemble. The so-called Kontorhaus rented by limehome is considered the centrepiece of the new Balgequartier. The former bank building from 1911 overlooks Bremen’s market square and is located directly on the city’s most popular shopping street. limehome will occupy the second and third floors. In Bremen, limehome already offers 13 flats in Hutfilterstraße.

The Balgequartier is currently being developed as one of the most important urban development projects in Bremen by the Joh. Jacobs & Co. group along Langenstraße in a central location. Four buildings, some dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, will house shops (4,000 m2) and top office space (11,000 m2) as well as various gastronomy concepts. The innovative mixed-use concept of the quarter is intended to further revitalise Bremen’s city centre and create high-quality shopping offers.

Jannik J. Foertsch, Key Accounts & Strategic Partnerships of limehome, says: “We are delighted to become a substantial part of Bremen’s historic city centre. With its Neo-Renaissance style arcades, the Kontorhaus is an eye-catcher of the historic building ensemble. With our digitally operated design flats, the new Kontorhaus will be a place that combines tradition and digital innovation.”

“We are proud to set new accents in Bremen’s city centre as a project partner of the renowned Joh. Jacobs & Co Group. For us, this shows: serviced flats have broadly arrived as a flexible hospitality concept in the real estate sector. Contrary to the market trend, our model offers real estate developers attractive return opportunities,” adds Dr. Josef Vollmayr, Managing Director and co-founder of limehome.

Melanie Landahl, Managing Director Real Estate Joh. Jacobs & Co Group says: “The serviced flats by limehome are an important building block for the revitalisation of the Balgequartier. In addition, the design concept fits perfectly with our approach to develop the quarter into a place for special and high-quality offers.”
