Eurowings takes a bite of the Big Apple

New and now bookable: budget-priced direct flights from Dusseldorf to New York, Miami and Fort Myers. Eurowings continues to expand low-cost long-haul offering from Dusseldorf.

DUSSELDORF – Eurowings takes a bite of the Big Apple: starting in April 2018, Eurowings, currently the fastest-growing airline, will head from Dusseldorf to the dream destination of New York on an almost daily basis.

Also new in the Eurowings route network: in the summer flight schedule 2018, there will be three flights a week from the state capital of North Rhine-Westphalia to the two sunshine destinations of Miami and Fort Myers in Florida. Customers can now book budget-priced tickets starting from EUR 249.99 to the two sunny destinations in Florida to secure their personal guarantee of sunshine for next spring.

The first flight day for the new route to New York is 28 April 2018, which Eurowings will operate daily except Tuesdays. Flights from Dusseldorf to Miami will start on 4 May 2018, heading out thereafter on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The Eurowings route to Fort Myers will be operated for the first time on 3 May 2018 and thereafter on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

The three new direct flights from Dusseldorf to the USA are part of the airline’s ongoing expansion of its low-cost long-haul offering. Just recently, the first Eurowings long-haul flight took off on time from Dusseldorf to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. This route, along with the existing Eurowings flight to Cancun in Mexico, will be continued in the summer flight schedule 2018. Oliver Wagner, Eurowings Chief Commercial Officer, comments, “Our new destinations in New York and Florida are merely the start. In summer 2018, we’ll be increasing our fleet in Dusseldorf and thus expanding our leading position in Dusseldorf and North Rhine-Westphalia even further.”

Eurowings is one of the pioneers of the low-cost long-haul and has already been operating successfully in this growth segment for two years. The airline flies to destinations all over the world, not only to dream beaches in the Caribbean but also to the Far East and the United States. The booking figures have been very good from the outset. According to Wagner, “The courage we’ve shown by investing heavily in the new business model of low-cost long-haul routes has paid off for us. Eurowings is now the fastest growing airline in Europe and is also seriously upping the ante on the long-haul.”
