New executive appointments at Mexico’s Grand Velas Resorts in Riviera Nayarit, Cabo

Andreas Schmidt named Managing Director in Los Cabos, Pilar Perciavalle now helms Riviera Nayarit.

PUERTO VALLARTA, MEXICO – Eduardo Vela Ruiz, founder and president of Mexico’s “Beyond All Inclusive, Beyond All Compare” Velas Resorts announces Andreas Schmidt and Maria Del Pilar Perciavalle have been named Managing Director of the Grand Velas Los Cabos and Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit resorts, respectively. In Mr. Schmidt’s new position, he is responsible for the new 304-suite resort’s next generation of all-inclusive amenities and facilities including a selection of gourmet specialty restaurants led by top chefs, including two star Michelin chef Sidney Schutte; world class Se Spa; staff ratio of 3 to 1; exceptional meeting facilities, and commitment to the environment. Grand Velas Los Cabos is the newest resort of Mexico’s Velas Resorts with over 25 years of tradition in hospitality. Ms. Perciavalle now helms the AAA Five Diamond Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit with 267 ocean-view suites; five restaurants of which three, serving French, Italian and Mexican gourmet cuisine, have received AAA Four Diamond awards for distinguished cuisine and presentation; Se Spa that offers 20 treatment suites, more than 30 spa treatments, many inspired by the native traditions of Mexico and a signature water journey; and more. The appointments are effective immediately.

Andreas Schmidt has over 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Most recently, he acted as Brand and Quality Director at Karisma Hotels & Resorts with properties throughout Europe, the Caribbean and Mexico. Prior to, he held the management positions at the top-rated Le Blanc Spa Resort in Cancun, Intercontinental and Hilton International. Mr. Schmidt has completed Professional Development Programs (PDP) at the Cornell School of Hotel Administration. Of German nationality, he speaks German, English and Spanish.

Maria Del Pilar Perciavalle has spent nearly 18 years in the hospitality industry within Iberostar resorts in Cuba, Argentina, Jamaica and various destinations in Mexico. She received a degree in Hotel Management from Mar del Plata College in Argentina and speaks English, Spanish, French and Portuguese.
