MEXICO CITY – Aeromexico announced the beginning of its new service between Mexico City and Rio de Janeiro with four nonstop flights per week as of June 29th this year.

The addition of this Brazilian destination will allow the carrier to respond to business passenger demand in Rio de Janeiro, known as the largest producer of oil and natural gas in the region.

Passengers traveling to Rio de Janeiro will be able to visit the city’s numerous natural and cultural attractions including, the giant statue of Christ the Redeemer atop Corcovado mountain, recently named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World; the Copa Cabana and Ipanema beaches; the Sambodromo, the Tijuca Forest National Park, one of the largest urban forests in the world, and enjoy the traditional folklore characterizing this paradisiac destination.

In the other direction, Carioca passengers traveling to Mexico City will be able to connect to the more than 45 domestic destinations Aeromexico serves nationwide while this new flight will also increase Rio de Janeiro’s connectivity with the world, through any one of the 17 cities the carrier serves in the U.S., such as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, Houston, San Francisco, and Las Vegas, among others, plus three destinations in Europe, two in Asia and one in Canada.

Flights between the two cities will be operated with Boeing 767 airplanes configured with 171 seats, 30 in the front Clase Premier cabin. This new route represents the second city Aeromexico has added to its network of destinations in Latin America within the last year, thereby reaffirming its commitment to serve and meet the needs of its customers.
