VisitScotland has won international recognition for its marketing campaign - Meet the Scots

International recognition for VisitScotland

Having already scooped gold, silver and bronze awards for the campaign’s creative strategy at the recent Marketing Excellence Awards, the national tourism organisation’s International Marketing team has walked away with a bronze medal at this week’s EACA (European Association of Communications Agencies) Euro Effie awards in Brussels.

Alongside its agency, G2, VisitScotland was up against the top agencies in Europe.

Denise Hill, Head of International Marketing at VisitScotland, said: “Success at the Euro Effie awards is a real endorsement for the work of VisitScotland’s International Marketing team.

“Our Meet the Scots campaign was shortlisted against the best agencies and campaigns across Europe, all vying to showcase the effectiveness against target of their top campaigns and, having recently won gold, silver and bronze awards for this campaign’s creative strategy at the Marketing Excellence Awards, it is particularly gratifying to see the campaign now achieve international recognition for its effectiveness.”

VisitScotland’s Meet the Scots campaign, which targets key European markets including Germany, France and Spain and uses Scots from all walks of life in its promotions, last year generated £97 million for the Scottish economy.

Introduced in 1996 to reward advertising that builds brands across borders, the Euro Effies were the first pan-European advertising awards to be judged on the basis of effectiveness.

The awards promote and recognise excellence in marketing communications among campaigns that have run and can prove effectiveness in at least two European countries.
