Le Boat named specially selected Broker for Afloat in France, by Orient-Express

With Afloat in France, guests will be pampered aboard the most exclusive and lavish barges, or peniche-hotels as they are locally known, to navigate the French waterways.

Le Boat, the #1 self-drive European boating company, is pleased to announce they have become a specially selected Broker for Afloat in France, by Orient-Express.

Cheryl Powell, Chief Operating Officer of TUI Marine, remarked, “Le Boat provides the best in self-drive cruising for its customers, so we are excited to represent the best in luxury, all-inclusive barging with Afloat in France. We promise to bring the best to our customers and with this partnership we will; whether guests choose to experience the leisurely pace of waterways cruising by doing it themselves or being taken care of by the professional crew.”

With Afloat in France, guests will be pampered aboard the most exclusive and lavish barges, or peniche-hotels as they are locally known, to navigate the French waterways. Each individually designed peniche-hotel is distinguished by spacious, opulent facilities that include, on certain barges, heated swimming pools and sun deck areas offering 360-degree views, as well as full entertainment systems, internet access, large lounge areas and many more on-board comforts.

This is an all-inclusive cruising experience, and the barges may be reserved on a “private hire” or “per cabin” basis. Either option includes all meals, beverages and excursions, plus airport transfers by first-class, high-speed train or private chauffer. With a capacity of four to 12 guests across the fleet, it is truly a unique way to cruise the canals. For larger parties, two or more barges may be reserved to travel in tandem.

All five barges offer a high crew-to-guest ratio with specially trained crew, who are dedicated to ensuring each guest receives extraordinary service and are fluent in two or more languages. A personal guide will introduce guests to the region’s most renowned vineyards, architectural landmarks, activities and local traditions. A cordon bleu chef will prepare superb cuisine, including Continental breakfast, lunch and five candlelit dinners served in the dining room or sundeck. Complimentary drinks, including alcohol, are served by the hostess throughout the day.

A variety of journeys are available in the cruising season from April to October, including travel around Cote d’Or, Burgundy, Franche-Comte, Saone Provence, Vallee du Rhone, Canal du Midi and the Loire region. There is also opportunity to spend time in Paris or other nearby cities.

Cruising through some of the country’s finest waterways, guests will be delighted by themed excursions and activities led by experts in their fields. All excursions are tailored to the personal requirements of each guest or group, including family adventures, ballooning, culinary tours, wine tasting, golf retreats, Le Semaine des Grands Crus (wine sampling from each of the 33 Grands Crus domaines of Burgundy) and many other cultural experiences.
