Ireland’s ferry company Stena Line is experiencing one of its busiest ever Christmas booking periods and with many sailings on its Irish Sea routes already at full capacity and the company is urging passengers to organise their travel as soon as possible.

During the period between December 20 and January 6, Stena Line expects to carry in excess of 130,000 passengers and 40,000 cars on its five Irish Sea routes – a significant increase on last year.

Stena Line Communications Manager Eamonn Hewitt said: “Christmas is always a busy time of year for Stena Line and this year is no exception. In fact, it’s been one of our busiest festive periods with many sailings already full.”

“The phones in our call centres have been ringing off the hook with people looking to travel during the festive season and we would suggest that a convenient way to book is online or through your local travel agent.”

“There is still some availability but we would advise our customers not to leave it until the last minute to book as they could end up missing out on their turkey dinner,” concluded Eamonn.

As the market leader between Ireland and Britain, Stena Line offers a choice of nine ferries across five routes, including Dublin Port and Dun Laoghaire to Holyhead, Rosslare to Fishguard, Belfast to Stranraer and Larne to Fleetwood. The company carries approximately three million passengers between Ireland and Britain each year which is more than its rival ferry operators combined.
