Liverpool is confident at Confex

Liverpool Convention Bureau will be launching its new campaign for 2013 at this year’s International Confex – Confident Conferencing.

Distinguishing Liverpool from other destinations, it builds on the city’s attributes, such as its previous status as European Capital of Culture, its unparalleled range of first class conference venues, the wide variety of hotels and Liverpool Convention Bureau’s range of industry leading services.

Confident Conferencing will form the basis of Liverpool Convention Bureau’s promotional activity, key messaging and marketing for 2013 and continue to evolve the city’s positioning as one of the UK’s leading conference destinations. It will be underlined by Liverpool City Region’s experience in delivering successful and innovative conferencing, such as the Labour Party Annual Conference 2011, British Council of Shopping Centres 2012, International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis 2012, and the International Conference on the Arts in Society 2012.

The campaign is all encompassing – incorporating people, facilities, accessibility, culture and heritage – to demonstrate the region’s ability to host conferences, the confidence organisers should have in confirming an event and the experience delegates will have during an event in the Liverpool City Region.

The Confident Conferencing campaign will be supported by a new venue directory for the city and Liverpool Convention Bureau’s stand partners – Liverpool Football Club, National Museums Liverpool and Britannia Adelphi Hotel.

Kate Currie, Interim Convention Bureau Manager at Liverpool Convention Bureau, comments: “As a destination, we’re confident in Liverpool’s proposition for conferences. Quite simply no other destination can offer the cultural and heritage experience that Liverpool can, and combine that with a first class range of hotels, venues and support networks that a large scale conference requires. The launch of Confident Conferencing will be an important milestone for the Bureau and the city and we look forward to sharing our vision at International Confex”.

Kerrin MacPhie, Director of Sales at ACC Liverpool, the city’s largest conference facility, adds: “We wholeheartedly support the Bureau’s Confident Conferencing campaign. In the last few months alone, we have welcomed back, among many other events, the BBC Worldwide Showcase and Swinton, secured the European Society of Surgical Oncology conference and will host the Royal College of Ophthalmology for the third time this May. Our new development, Exhibition Centre Liverpool, which will open in 2015, will only add to the destination’s portfolio and ensure we continue to attract conferences of this calibre into Liverpool”.

Liverpool Convention Bureau will be on stand K210 during the show, which runs from 19–21 March. The Bureau, supported by ACC Liverpool, will launch Confident Conferencing with a Champagne reception on stand K210 at International Confex at 2pm on Tuesday 19 March.

In addition the Bureau will be offering a chance to win a weekend break in Liverpool for two people, including a two night stay at the Britannia Adelphi Hotel, afternoon tea at the Maritime Museum and a tour of Liverpool Football Club.
