Megabus.com introduces reserved seating

New customer option debuts on double-decker bus fleet in New York, Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Boston & Philadelphia on May 28.

NEW YORK – Megabus.com, the popular city-to-city, express bus company, announced a new reserved-seating program to/from select cities in North America.

The new service option allows customers to choose from 10 popular seats for a nominal fee. Tickets for specific reserved seats can be purchased at megabus.com, with service beginning May 28.

Starting May 28, reserved seats will be available on the following routes:

  • New York City-Baltimore-Washington, D.C.
  • New York City-Boston
  • New York City-Philadelphia
  • Philadelphia-Washington, D.C. (select trips).

The company will also be adding reserved seating availability on the Toronto-Kingston-Montreal route in the coming weeks with the possibility of adding the option to more routes in the near future.

“We’ve heard our customers’ desires loud and clear,” said Mike Alvich, VP of Marketing and Public Relations for megabus.com/Coach USA. “While every ticket purchase on megabus.com guarantees a seat on the bus, we know that customers want to secure some of the most popular seats and, starting today, we’re happy to give them that opportunity. With reserved seating customers no longer need to arrive over an hour early to make sure they get the most popular seats. Now they can simply book them in advance.”

By purchasing adjoining reserved seats, friends and family members will be guaranteed to sit next to each other. Reserved seats are visually distinct with solid blue coloring and are identified by a large number embroidered onto the seat fabric. This number corresponds to the specific seat number customers select on the megabus.com website at the time of purchase.

“Of the 10 reserved seat options, four are located on the upper deck at the very front and offer a spectacular panoramic view,” said Alvich. “Two additional seats are also on the upper deck behind the stairs providing a great view and the convenience of a small table; while four seats on the lower deck behind the driver around a large table are also available for reservation. These are, by far, the 10 most popular seats on our buses and we know our customers will love being able to guarantee a reservation for them when booking their trip.”

Reserved seating is sold in certain cities on select routes and times and is only valid on the trip scheduled.

“Providing the ability to quickly, easily and affordably select some of the most popular seats will add comfort, peace of mind and an overall better travel experience for all our customers,” added Alvich.

Megabus.com, a subsidiary of Coach USA, launched in April 2006 and is one of the largest city-to-city express bus service providers in North America. In addition to affordable fares, megabus.com offers customers state-of-the-art, green-certified double-decker buses with free Wi-Fi, power outlets, restrooms and are wheelchair accessible. Megabus.com equips every bus with three-point lap/shoulder seat belts, providing the top safety standard for megabus.com’s 35 million passengers in more than 120 cities across North America.
