The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has honoured different government departments for contributing to its success in increasing the flow of tourism and positioning Dubai as the leading tourism and commercial hub of the world.



The honouring ceremony was held at the state-of-the-art Dubai Cruise Terminal with the DTCM Director General, Mr. Khalid A Bin Sulayem handing over plaques, certificates and gifts to the representatives of different departments.



The departments honoured included Dubai Police, Department of Economic Development, Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, Department of Communications, Info rmation Technology and the Arts and the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Members of the Arabic and English press were also recognized for their role in highlight the initiatives of the DTCM.



Speaking on the occasion, Mr. bin Sulayem said: Dubai`s success has been scripted by the hard work and cooperation among different government departments on one hand and the effective partnership between the private and the public sector on the other.



Mr. Khalid A bin Sulayem also thanked the representatives of the government departments for their support in offering quality services to tourists whose numbers have increased to 6 million in 2005.



In order to recognize and appreciate the contribution of its partners both in the private and the public sector, the DTCM organizes regular honouring ceremonies throughout the year.
