With 12 sensational years of Horeca’s success in Lebanon, the country’s Hospitality Services, considered the premier organizers for hospitality events in the Levant, have branched out to Kuwait for a second year.

The second edition of the show closed its doors on December 9 after having attracted over 2,000 trade visitors.



Adding official Lebanese presence and entrepreneurship, Horeca Kuwait 2005 was inaugurated in the presence of Mr. Joe Sarkis, Lebanese Minister of Tourism, Mr. Jawdat El Hajjar Lebanese Ambassador to Kuwait and many other Lebanese businesses and governmental personalities. The Lebanese pavilion gathered around 20 companies, including a special pavilion dedicated to the Lebanese Ministry of Tourism which proudly promoted the country to Kuwaitis and regional visitors.



Mrs. Joumana-Dammous Salame, Managing Director of the organizing company said “Horeca has brought to Kuwait a great new way to raise the standard of regional hospitality, promote tourism and encourage business between hospitality and tourism players in the region.”



Indeed, the list of Horeca Kuwait’s attendees read like a who’s who of key decision-makers from major establishments including hotels, resorts, furnished apartments, restaurants, night-clubs, patisseries, equipment suppliers, caterers and more. The event also attracted major television networks and regional newspapers who were keen to portray the deep, solid cooperation between Lebanon and Kuwait in business and tourism.



Horeca Kuwait 2005’s extensive exhibitor profile included catering equipment and services, hospitality-related software companies, technology and audiovisual suppliers, security companies, packaging companies, schools and universities, franchise companies, furnishings and fixture suppliers, food and beverage suppliers and much more. The event became a trusted venue to showcase the latest products and services in the hospitality and foodservice sectors, providing attendees with the opportunity to update their knowledge on the latest in the market.

Live Demonstrations



Executive Chef Chef Charles Azar of the Habtoor hotels in Beirut fascinated the crowd by creating a fascinating figurine made solely from sugar, giving the audience a chance to learn new a new in the field. His demonstrations during the show revealed the secrets of colouring, temperature, staining and manipulating sugar.



Franck Page, Executive Chef at Le Vendome Intercontinental Hotel Beirut and one of the finalists in “Les Meilleurs Ouvriers de France” for 1996 and 2004, whipped up three seafood surprises in front of visitors and Junior chefs from different establishments.



In collaboration with Hospitality News magazine and for its special Chocolate issue, Mahdi Darwiche from EMF Trading Ltd sweetened up the mood of all the visitors at the Hospitality News stand by offering tasty quality chocolates to visitors during the three-day event.



Seminars



Professionals of the hospitality & foodservice industry shared their knowledge for the mass of attendees.



Mr. Musa Jabra Dahdal from Bio-Teck Food Laboratories in Amman, Jordan presented a study on Managing food safety: Voluntary Use of HACCP.



The Kuwait Hotel Owners Association discussed the issue of developing local career in the hotel industry during a workshop moderated by Mr. Mohamed A. Najia, president of the association.
