Nina & Pinta adds travel executive Joe Currie to North American team

Currie is the second new hire this year for the managed travel consultancy as part of a global expansion.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Managed travel consultancy and accredited training provider Nina & Pinta  has named travel industry executive Joe Currie as Director, Americas, effective immediately.

Currie joins Managing Director, Americas Mark Williams – who joined the consultancy in April 2020 – as part of an expansion of Nina & Pinta’s global footprint. Currie will be based in the Raleigh Durham area. The company also has offices in London, England and Johannesburg, South Africa. The North American team also includes Garth Gopling (Toronto, ON) and Debbie Thomas (Washington, DC).

“I’m thrilled to welcome Joe to the Nina and Pinta team,” said Williams. “I’ve had the opportunity to work with him in his role as President of the GBTA North Carolina chapter and have been impressed with the depth of his industry knowledge and expertise, and the strength of his network. He will be a great addition to our team and a benefit to our current and future clients.”

Currie got an early start in corporate travel, first learning about industry innovation from his parents who not only owned a global travel agency, but also held one of the earliest patents for online booking technology. He held various roles within the agency environment, before joining Expedia in 2008, where he directed the corporate travel division’s positions in operations, global account management and field sales.

In 2017, he became Key Account Director of Sales for Travel Leaders Corporate and later launched his own consultancy, TravelWon. Currie currently serves as Chairman of the Board for GBTA – North Carolina and previously acted as chapter president.

“I’m excited to join the well-respected and knowledgeable team at Nina and Pinta,” said Currie. “Although this is certainly a challenging time for many within our industry, I strongly feel that independent, data-driven consulting will be more valuable than ever, and I look forward to what the future holds as part of this stellar group of travel experts.”
