Ryanair adds a 6th aircraft and launches record Athens Winter schedule

Six new routes – Bologna, Bucharest, Dublin, Malta, Mykonos and Sofia

Ryanair launched its biggest ever Athens winter 2016 schedule, with 1 extra based aircraft (an investment of $100m), 6 new routes to Bologna, Bucharest, Dublin, Malta, Mykonos and Sofia, and more flights to Rhodes and Rome, which will help deliver 3.4m customers p.a. and support 2,500 jobs at Athens Airport.  

Ryanair’s winter 2016 Athens schedule will deliver:

  • 6 aircraft (1 extra)
  • 6 new routes: Bucharest (daily), Sofia (daily), Mykonos (daily), Bologna (4 weekly), Malta (3 weekly) & Dublin (2 weekly)
  • More flights to Rhodes (3 daily) & Rome (3 daily)
  • 19 routes
  • 3.4m customers p.a. (up 25%)

Greek consumers and visitors can now choose from 19 Athens routes in winter 2016 and can look forward to even lower fares and further service improvements, as Ryanair continues its “Always Getting Better” programme, which includes more routes, a new app, new cabin interiors and new crew uniforms.  

In Athens, Ryanair’s Michael O’Leary said: “We are pleased to launch our biggest ever Athens winter schedule, which includes a 6th based aircraft, 6 new routes to Bologna, Bucharest, Dublin, Malta, Mykonos and Sofia, and more daily flights to Rhodes and Rome, which will help deliver 3.4m customers p.a. and support over 2,500 jobs, as we grow traffic by 25% at Athens Airport.
