US-based Tour Operator group IST leads the way in support of Just A Drop

The Group IST funds collected so far from reservations for all of its brands which include ET African Journeys, Regina Tours and Journeys Unlimited.

Group IST
, a specialty tour operator based in New York City, has become the first US-based tour operator to adopt Just a Drop, as its official charity.

The Group IST funds collected so far from reservations for all of its brands which include ET African Journeys, Regina Tours and Journeys Unlimited, – together with monies raised by two other sponsors – will be put towards one of Just a Drop’s projects in Uganda, bringing much needed clean water to 690 people in Bibbo Village in Namakonkome Parish.

The project will build three boreholes and hand-pumps for this community along with two rainwater harvesting jars and two latrines at the homes of the most vulnerable (due to disability or age – as they are unable to walk to reach the new water sources). This will result in a reduction in water-borne diseases and all the challenges that come with them, and will mean the women and children no longer have to walk long distances for water, freeing them up for more productive activity.

Michael Goren, CEO of Group IST said, “Group IST is very pleased to be able to support a project in Uganda, one of our ETAfrican Journeys brand destinations. It is good to know that we can make a small difference in the lives of these children and hopefully by providing clean water, enabling them to have a future of hope.”

Fiona Jeffery, Chairman and founder of Just a Drop says, “We are absolutely delighted that Group IST has adopted Just a Drop. We hope this paves the way for more companies in the US travel industry to get involved with the charity, especially now that we are a part of the American Foundation of Charities, which enables companies as well as individuals to make tax-exempt donations. We are thrilled that Group IST is one of the companies leading the way with its support.”
