After the christening of the new NCL Freestyle Cruising flagship Norwegian Jewel this month in Miami, the cruise line already welcomes sister ship Pride of Hawai’i to its fleet in April 2006. Currently under construction in the German Meyer Yard, Pride of Hawai’i will be the largest US flagged passenger ship ever built, and will join Pride of Aloha and Pride of America offering seven day, inter island cruises from/to Honolulu visiting the 50th state’s four main islands.

At over 93,000 gross tons, and with a passenger capacity of close to 2,400, Pride of Hawaii will employ over 1,000 crew. To celebrate her name, the ship’s dramatic hull artwork will feature iconic images of Hawaii with a hula dancer on one side and a conch shell blower on the other. Each design is joined by the quintessential symbol of Hawai’i’s gracious welcome, a flower Lei, made up of yellow, red and orange Hibiscus blooms.

Passengers get to know Hawai’i not only ashore, but also on board Pride of Hawai’i. Elements which remind of the of the Hawai’ian Islands and their culture and history will dominate the interior of the modern cruise resort. As on all NCL America’s Hawai’i based ships, Pride of Hawai’i will feature an NCL Golf Pro Shop and the NCL Golf Hawai’i Programme.

June 19, 2006, Pride of Hawai’i will start her regular seven day cruises from/to Honolulu around the islands of Hawai’i. With its US registration, NCL America vessels are able to sail around Hawai’i without calling at a foreign port. “As the market leader for cruises around Hawai’i, we are happy to offer our clients Island Hopping on board three different NCL America vessels next season.” says Michael Zengerle, General Manager of NCL (Bahamas) Limited, Wiesbaden Office.
