New research has revealed the most popular family destinations for 2024, and there are a few surprises. Austria has been revealed as the top trending European family holiday destination of 2024, by Eurocamp. The Alpine country pipped Germany to the accolade, while Switzerland took third place in the analysis by the family holiday specialists.

Eurocamp has compiled their Top Trending Destinations for this summer by looking at the destinations across their over 400 European parcs – with the biggest growth in bookings over the last two months.

Austria is the top holiday hotspot for families, with bookings up more than 117% compared to January and February last year.

For those trendsetters heading there this year, they can expect breathtaking mountains, crystal-clear lakes, and meandering rivers set amongst scenic forests and beds of wildflowers.

Germany is the second highest growing holiday destination, with Brits turning to the heart of Europe for stunning countryside and rich history, with bookings seeing an increase of more than 104% when compared to the same period last year.

Picturesque chocolate-box villages and fairytale castles are also on holidaymakers’ wishlists for their 2024 getaways, as Switzerland has also seen more than 91% growth in bookings compared to the same period last yea*.

Croatia, Luxembourg and The Netherlands all make it into the Top Trending Destinations as well.

As part of the research, Eurocamp has also analysed its top trending holiday parcs. It found that Lake Maggiore in Italy, with its unspoilt lakeside beaches and charming towns, has seen the biggest growth with their Lido Verbano parc experiencing a 900% increase in bookings compared to last year.

The stunning parc offers a lakeside bar and restaurant with access to an array of watersports activities, making it a huge hit for those looking for an active holiday.

Moving East, Eurocamp’s Camping Lanterna parc in Istria, Croatia has also seen phenomenal growth, up 500% compared to last year as families flock to this trendy destination with no shortage of natural beauty.

Ross Matthews, Chief Marketing Officer, said: “Although we’re best known for our holiday offering in France, Italy and Spain, our latest data shows that families are looking for destinations that are off the beaten track, and are coming to Eurocamp for more than beach holidays. Picturesque mountain landscapes, slower tourism and rich culture are just some of the factors that have seen Austria crowned our top trending holiday hotspot. After more than 50 years of creating fantastic experiences for families, we’re delighted to be able to help holidaymakers enjoy new experiences from our extensive range of locations across Europe.”
