The American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) released last Thursday a thank you letter from its president and CEO, Kathryn W. Sudeikis, CTC, to Royal Caribbean Cruise Line for its support in communicating the value of using travel agents through Travel Agent Appreciation Month and a series of ongoing promotional efforts. As an ASTA Proud Partner, Royal Caribbean understands the importance of travel agents to the cruise industry; travel agents sell 87 percent of all cruises.
Sudeikis` remarks to Royal Caribbean:
…I must say that I was extremely pleased to see Royal Caribbean`s announcement that it has designated April [2006] as Travel Agent Appreciation Month, kicking off year-round promotions and incentives communicating Royal Caribbean`s appreciation for travel agents each and every day of the year.
On behalf of our travel agency members, I would like to express ASTA`s appreciation for Royal Caribbean`s recognition of the value of using a travel agency and for its outstanding effort to promote this message to consumers. It`s easy to talk the talk, but your Travel Agent Appreciation Month program clearly demonstrates that you are walking the walk when it comes to your commitment to the travel agency distribution system.
As demonstrated by ASTA`s recent work with ICCL in the congressional hearings on cruise line safety, our industry is ready to support the cruise industry as well for the benefit of both.
