International ICCA members from the UK, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Germany and Switzerland gathered at the Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre last week, to address the challenges of winning business in the current economic climate.
The joint summer debate entitled “Winning Business by Adding Value” was a partnership between ICCA’s UK & Ireland and Iberian Chapters and supported by the Aberdeen Convention Bureau and Aberdeenshire Council.
Delegates heard speaker presentations from representatives of both the association and corporate sectors advising on topics including; Successful Events through Strategic Marketing, How to Run Profitable Events, Adding Value to Destination Marketing and New Strategies and Innovations.
James Rees, Chair of ICCA UK & Ireland Chapter commented; “It is clear that during this difficult economic time our members are looking to add value to the services they provide and are having to become much more creative when it comes to pitching for business.”
“The summer debate united the knowledge of the UK & Ireland Chapter with that of our Iberian colleagues in Spain and Portugal, creating an educational platform for sharing and learning means of adding real, relevant value to potential clients and securing opportunities for growth in the future.”
Companies represented covered a wide range of organisations and included delegates from MCI, Congrex, VisitBritain the SECC, Faria Valencia, Madrid Convention Bureau and Virgin Atlantic.
