Why ERA invested in SESAME

By partnering in the SESAME Definition Phase through the Air Traffic Alliance, the European Regions Airline Association (ERA) wants to ensure the Single European Skies (SES) initiative becomes a workable reality, the Association said today.

ERA readily expresses its belief that SESAME is a potent example of future cooperation between legislators and the industry.

Too many good ideas in air transport have failed to become operational because they failed to gain universal support. SES is vitally important so ERA wants to play a part in guaranteeing its successful birth, said Director General Mike Ambrose.

The Air Traffic Alliance announced today at the Paris Air Show that it was entering into contract negotiations with the European Commission and Eurocontrol for launch of the Definition Phase.

The ATA was able to show a 29-member consortium that is fully representative in terms of expertise and competencies.

Added Mike Ambrose: A well-constructed Single European Skies infrastructure will be good for the environment, travel consumers and for industry. By backing SESAME with such a representative cross-section of the industry, Europe`s aviation community is underlining not only its community responsibilities but also its commitment to benign change.
