US aircraft leasing firm CIT Aerospace last week signed a $3.5 billion contract for the purchase of 50 planes from the European consortium
The contract signing formalised CIT Aerospace`s plans for the acquisition of 35 A320 and 15 A330 type jets, announced last July.
In October, the American company took delivery of the first Airbus as part of a contract signed last year. The latest order boosts the number of Airbus jets ordered by CIT to 80.
Airbus chief Noel Forsair said CIT was establishing itself as a leading player in the field of aircraft leasing and its decision would secure a larger share of this fast-growing market.
